The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly breaching bail and running from police. Back in April, the man was granted bail on a number of charges, including gun offenses, uttering threats, and four counts of possessing a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking. Two weeks prior, police said he was put on probation in connection with an unrelated criminal harassment charge. Part of his release conditions required an electronic monitoring device to be worn. The WPS said the man later breached his conditions by fleeing from a traffic stop and driving dangerously. He was arrested in the 3300 block of Howard Avenue on Friday. During the arrest, the accused allegedly tried to drive away by driving onto the sidewalk. Police blocked the vehicle with their cruisers in order to protect people in the area and prevent the man from driving away. He was arrested after a brief struggle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of eight grams of fentanyl, 24 Dilaudid tablets, and $531 Canadian and U.S. cash. The 22-year-old is now facing two counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance, two counts of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply with a release order, and breach of probation.
