Rock legends AC/DC left more than 50,000 fans ‘Thunderstruck’ at sold-out concert

Rock ‘n’ roll legends AC/DC left 50,047 fans ‘Thunderstruck’ at a sold-out concert at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on Sunday.

Hundreds of staff helped the show go off without a hitch, including more than 510 security guards, 115 ushers and customer service staff, and 125 City of Edmonton event staff. Edmonton Police Services and Edmonton Transit Services, along with medical staff, were also on hand to ensure a safe event.

“We are very excited that Edmonton was chosen to host AC/DC’s PWR Up Tour,” Heather Seutter, Commonwealth Stadium Director, said in a statement on Monday. “These mega stadium tours and world-class artists choosing Edmonton as a stop on their tours have an incredible impact on our city.”

Seutter said the “tremendous energy and excitement” of these sold-out shows benefits local businesses and strengthens “cultural vibrancy,” attracting visitors to the city.

Concertgoers were encouraged to take public transit and arrive early for the performance.

The next concert at Commonwealth Stadium will be on Aug. 26 when Guns N’ Roses will hit the stage. Tickets are still available online with Ticketmaster.
