A Barrie martial arts instructor who was heavily involved in the community is facing 11 new charges after more alleged victims came forward in an ongoing child sexual assault case. Police say the charges against 28-year-old Daniel Tallim stem from an investigation launched back in May, when he was initially charged with three sexual offences involving a child. Tallim is the sole proprietor of Alpha Martial Arts on Little Avenue in Barrie and has been involved in the city’s martial arts community for several years, said investigators. On Friday, Tallim was charged with additional offences, including sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault of a person under 16, five counts of luring a child, making child sexual abuse material, possession of child sexual abuse material and accessing child sexual abuse material. At the time of his arrest in May, he was accused of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching. Investigators said they believed there could be additional victims. Officers note there is no statute of limitations on sexual offences and encourage anyone who believes they may have been a victim to contact them. The allegations against Tallim have not been tested in court.
