The Greater Montreal area is under a severe thunderstorm watch starting Monday afternoon. “Conditions will be favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, hail and heavy rain,” Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said. “There is also a risk of a tornado.” The agency is warning of possible utility outages and is asking people to avoid water activities. “Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible,” ECCC states. The impact level is expected to be moderate, with a high forecast confidence.
