Drunk driver crashed into B.C. yard after fleeing hit-and-run, police say

A drunk driver crashed into the front yard of a home in B.C.’s Fraser Valley over the weekend after fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run, according to police.

Authorities shared an image of the collision scene showing a Cadillac Escalade that had come to a stop outside a home in Abbotsford’s Townline Hill neighbourhood on Sunday.

“The driver fled the scene of a hit-and-run, then crashed into the front yard of a residence,” the Abbotsford Police Department wrote in a social media post Monday. “He was arrested and provided a breath sample more than 2.5 times the legal limit.”

Police said a criminal investigation into the incident is ongoing.

It’s unclear how much damage was done to the Abbotsford property, located at the corner of Ridgeview Drive and Blueridge Drive.

CTV News has asked the department for more details, including on the circumstances of the hit-and-run that preceded the crash.

That driver was among 30 allegedly impaired motorists Abbotsford police pulled off the road between Friday evening and Monday morning, authorities said.
