Andrew Weichel

Andrew Weichel is an award-winning reporter and the supervising digital producer for CTV News Vancouver. He was born and raised in British Columbia, growing up in the Okanagan before moving to Vancouver, where he studied journalism at Langara College. His work covering the COVID-19 pandemic was recognized with a Jack Webster Award in 2020, and he received an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2023 alongside colleague Lisa Steacy for their investigation into the Vancouver Police Department's selective dissemination of stranger assault data in the lead up to a municipal election. During his time at CTV News Vancouver, the station's website has also been recognized with several honours, including overall excellence from the Radio Television Digital News Association. In 2019, Andrew co-authored his first book, "Everything British Columbia," with his wife Bethany Lindsay.
