The Ottawa Police Service says a fatal fire in Kemptville is believed to be connected to the deaths of two children in Findlay Creek. Ontario Provincial Police say one person was found dead following a vehicle fire at the Rideau River Carpool Lot near Highway 416 and Rideau River Road. Officers were called to the area just after 5:30 a.m. “Members of the Grenville County Crime Unit are continuing a death investigation. There is no threat to public safety,” OPP Sgt. Erin Cranton told CTV News Ottawa in an email. “The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.” In a news release Monday afternoon, the Ottawa Police Service said the victim is the father of two boys, aged 7 and 12, who were found dead in a home in Ottawa. “Investigators continue to assess the connections between these incidents and do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public,” the Ottawa Police Service said. The carpool lot is approximately 35 kilometres south of the home Ottawa police are investigating. The carpool lot remained closed as of Monday afternoon, but police said the on-ramp from Rideau River Road to Highway 416 remains open.
