Saskatchewan’s minimum wage is due for a bump later this year. However, despite the increase, the province will still sport one of the lowest minimum wages in the country. Effective Oct. 1, Saskatchewan’s minimum wage will rise 35 cents to $15.70 an hour. The province determines its minimum wage by using an indexation formula tied to the Consumer Price Index. In its announcement on Monday, the province also highlighted the affordability measures it has implemented as part of the most recent provincial budget – such as reducing the number of residents paying provincial income tax. Alberta is the only province with a lower minimum wage than Saskatchewan – at $15. The country’s highest minimum wage can be found in Nunavut at $19.75. Since the Saskatchewan Party formed government in 2007, minimum wage has increased $7.10 from $8.25 to $15.35.
