Parts of stolen Dodge Challenger found in trailer on Manitoba highway

Mounties made quite the discovery in a trailer being towed on a Manitoba Highway Tuesday night.

RCMP in Fisher Branch said Wednesday they were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17 in the RM of Fisher when they stopped a vehicle travelling slowly while pulling a trailer.

During the stop, officers spoke with the driver and the passenger. According to police, the two people said they attended Peguis First Nation to pick up a car part and were heading back to Winnipeg.

Police inspected the trailer and found multiple car parts for a white Dodge Challenger, with RCMP saying some of the parts belonged to a vehicle that was reported stolen from Winnipeg on Nov. 25.

Mounties also found a large amount of Canadian currency and said the passenger had a significant amount of prescription drugs.

The driver, a 43-year-old woman from Winnipeg, along with a 24-year-old male passenger from Winnipeg, were both arrested on charges of possession of property obtained by crime. The passenger was also charged with possession of prescription drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The suspects were released on undertakings. None of the charges have been proven in court.

RCMP continue to investigate.
