Prime Minister Mark Carney has cancelled his Canada Day trip to his hometown of Edmonton due to thunderstorms in Ottawa. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed to CTV News Edmonton that Carney’s plane to Alberta was grounded for poor weather conditions. Carney was originally meant to make an appearance in southeast Edmonton neighbourhood Mill Woods for Canada Day celebrations. The rare visit was scheduled the day before an expected pipeline announcement from the Alberta government. CTV News Edmonton has asked if Carney will try to get to Alberta for that announcement on Thursday but has not heard back.
