Prince Albert police are investigating after a two-month-old infant died in hospital more than a week after being found unconscious in a home in the city. Officers were called to a home on the 600 block of 19th Street West at about 11 a.m. on June 21 to assist Parkland Ambulance crews attending to an unconscious two month old female, police said in an update on Wednesday. Paramedics performed life-saving measures and took the child to Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert. The infant was later transported to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon in stable condition for further care. Police say the infant remained in hospital until June 30, when she died. The Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Section are investigating the death with assistance from the Saskatoon Police Service Forensic Identification Section and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Police say further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
