Calgary is hosting a full slate of Canada Day celebrations alongside several transit, parking and facility changes. Festivities are centred in and around the downtown core, with the Canada Day Main Stage Show at Prince’s Island Park running from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Performers include Micah Sage, Jamie Fine, Kardinal Offishall, Tia Wood and Walk off the Earth. Events are also planned at multiple locations, including The Confluence, Eau Claire Plaza, East Village, Sien Lok Park and the Municipal Building, generally running between 11 a.m. and evening hours. Programming includes live music, cultural performances, family activities and an Indigenous-focused market and teaching spaces. Fireworks are scheduled for about 11 p.m. above Stampede Park. The city says on-site viewing will not be available and recommends watching from areas such as Max Bell Centre. Calgary Transit will operate on a Sunday level of service, while a free shuttle will run between Eau Claire and East Village from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. On-street ParkPlus parking will be free, while Calgary Parking parkades will mostly be free or operate at weekend rates. Some roads in Eau Claire and East Village will be closed or restricted throughout the day. Several city facilities – including arenas, pools, fitness and leisure centres – are closed, while landfills and eco centres remain open. Officials say residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and use transit or active transportation due to expected crowds and limited parking.
