Witnesses, video sought after man seriously injured in motorcycle crash on Highway 1

Police are asking witnesses to come forward after a man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash near 256^th Street on Highway 1 over the weekend.

The B.C. Highway Patrol said the crash occurred just before 2 p.m. on Saturday, when the driver of a grey Harley Davidson motorcycle lost control and crashed into the eastbound lane along a stretch of highway that is under construction. The motorcyclist—a 46-year-old man from Vancouver—was seriously hurt in the crash.

“In order to fully understand how this crash happened, we need to see more dash-camera video and speak to witnesses who saw the minutes leading up to the collision,” Cpl. Michael McLaughlin said in a news release Monday. “At this time, it does not appear that any other vehicles were involved.”

The eastbound lanes of Highway 1 were closed for just under two hours while officers conducted their investigation on Saturday.
