Burnaby RCMP make arrest in connection to September bank robbery

A 64-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a bank robbery in Burnaby, following a months-long investigation by RCMP.

Mounties say the robbery happened on Sept. 25, 2025, at a bank in the Kingsway and Edmonds Street area. Police allege the suspect used a gun and fled the scene before officers arrived.

Burnaby RCMP’s Strike Force Unit, which focuses on robberies, took control of the investigation.

On Jan. 14, officers executed a search warrant at a South Burnaby residence, with assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team and Burnaby RCMP’s Prolific Offender Suppression Team. A 64‑year‑old man was arrested on scene, and police seized two firearms.

The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP have not identified the suspect, but say he’s been released on strict conditions pending charges.

“I think this is going to be the only arrest,” a spokesperson told CTV News.

Mounties would not say which bank was targeted or what was stolen.
