Sault police probe fatal crash involving bicycle, pickup truck

A 63-year-old Sault Ste. Marie cyclist died Sunday after a collision with a motor vehicle. Police, who say a 22-year-old driver was involved, are investigating.

A 63-year-old cyclist has died after a collision with a pickup truck in Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday afternoon.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is investigating the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Wellington Street East and Kohler Street at about 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 7.

“Officers responded to a collision involving a pickup truck and a bicycle,” said police in a news release.

The cyclist was transported to hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.

The 22-year-old driver of the truck did not sustain physical injuries.

“Traffic services is continuing its investigation and is not seeking additional information at this time,” said the police service.
