Clean-up efforts are underway after a storm that caused significant destruction to communities to the south of Simcoe County. Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas says operations crews are out Saturday to clear roads that have been reduced to one lane due to downed trees. He says the priorities are to clear roads, remove hazards and ensure residential driveways are accessible. Staff are assessing damage to infrastructure like street lights, poles and signs. One area of Aurora was still without power Saturday morning near Orchard Heights and Yonge Street. Mrakas says staff are doing assessments of parks and trails also and will coordinate an additional yard waste collection time for residents.
