Do you know a talented artist in our region? Nominations are now open for the Barrie Arts Awards. The public can nominate artists, organizations, collectives and arts supporters in several different categories. The categories are Artist Beyond Barriers, Business Champion, Contribution to the Community, Emerging Artist, Excellence in the Arts and Most Promising Youth. An evening to recognize and celebrate the award-winners will take place at a gala ceremony in November. The nomination deadline is Aug. 10 at 11:59 p.m. To submit a nomination, go to the Barrie Arts Awards website. The winners will receive a special Barrie Arts Awards statuette, created by a local sculptor. The City chooses a different design each year. Artists have until Mon., July 13 to submit their statuette design.
