A homeowner was taken to hospital after a house fire on Hazen Street early Saturday morning. At around 2:28 a.m. fire crews were called to the home, where they found heavy smoke inside the residence. Firefighters then quickly extinguished flames on the main floor. The Saskatoon Fire Department says the homeowner was able to call 911 and get out of the house safely before crews arrived. The homeowner suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. As of 4:04 a.m., a fire investigator was on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire and estimate the extent of the damage.
