Guelph man extorted after sending nudes through social media app

A man from Guelph, Ont. has learned the dangers of sending intimate images through social media.

On Monday, the man told the Guelph Police Service he had been messaging someone on an app who he thought was a female. During their conversations, he sent nude photos of himself.

Shortly after, he began receiving messages threatening to release those images unless he paid the other person $500.

Police said the man sent $150 in online gift cards before ending all communication.
