KW Titans advance to winner-takes-all Game 5 in BSL finals

The KW Titans will head to a winner-take-all Game 5 in the Basketball Super League (BSL) Finals after losing back-to-back games on the road against the Sudbury Five.

Sudbury stayed alive by a thread, winning 100-97 in Game 4. The Five’s push to return to Kitchener was led by a 27-point effort from Duane Notice, while league MVP Charlie Marquardt added 18 points, including the game-icing free throws.

James Towns led the Titans with 21 points in the loss.

Despite losing momentum in the series, Towns said the team’s approach remains unchanged.

“It’s a win or go home mindset. Credit to Sudbury, that’s how they’ve been playing the last two games, so we got to match that energy, come home, and bring the trophy home,” Towns said in a post-game interview.

Both teams now face a decisive final game. The Titans are seeking their first championship, while the Five are aiming to repeat after winning last year’s title in a five-game series against the Windsor Express.

Game 5 for the Super Lillie Trophy is scheduled for Wednesday at The Aud, with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
