Green puddle startles users of Kitchener trail

No, it’s not a belated St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

People walking along a trail behind Hickson Drive in Kitchener’s Stanley Park Conservation Area got a surprise when they discovered that the water in a stormwater puddle had turned a fluorescent shade of green.

City officials say the green water is due to a dye used to test the pipe feeding the puddle.

Tests of that sort are done several times per year across the city’s stormwater system.
