Barrie brings back free summer transit pass for teens

Barrie youth aged 12 to 17 can take transit for free this summer, once they apply for and receive a Licence 2 Ride.

The licence will allow Barrie teens free rides on the city’s transit system from July 1 to Sept. 7 and free access to select recreational opportunities.

“The Licence 2 Ride program gives Barrie youth a great chance to explore the city, build lifelong transit habits, and enjoy an active summer at our recreation facilities,” said Mayor Alex Nuttall.

The city says, more than 1,700 youth received the license last summer and made more thank 5,300 visits to recreation centres and took almost 13,000 total rides on the city’s transit over the summer.
