Human remains found after fire partly destroys house in Grand River Falls, N.S.

Emergency crews found human remains at the scene of a house fire in Grand River Falls, N.S., on Wednesday morning.

The RCMP, fire services and paramedics responded to the reported structure fire on Loch Lomond Road around 6:55 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found a house was on fire and partly destroyed.

“After the fire was extinguished, the remains of an adult were located at the scene,” an RCMP news release reads. “Nova Scotia RCMP Forensic Identification Services and investigators from the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal and Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service attended the property.”

At this time, police do not believe criminality was a factor in the fire.
