Boil water advisory in effect for part of Gatineau’s east end

The City of Gatineau has issued a preventative boil water advisory affecting approximately 4,200 residents in the Buckingham sector.

In a news release Wednesday afternoon, the city says the advisory is due to an unexpected drop in water pressure related to road work on Rue Joseph.

Residents in the area are asked to boil their water for one minute before consuming it until the advisory is lifted.

The affected area is located east of the Guy-Lafleur Highway, south of Rue Church, west of rues Laframboise and Brewer; and north of Rue Belter.

The duration of the advisory is unclear.

Once the advisory is lifted, residents will be required to open all cold water taps and let the water run for one minute.

Residents can receive updates on the advisory via the city’s notification system.
