Heroics happen at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario every day. Now, one Ottawa family is digging deep into their comic book collection to give back in a single bound. Everybody loved the idea of selling comics for CHEO,” says Rob Lussier. Lussier, his wife Isabelle and their four children have been busy bagging, tagging and sorting 25,000 comics they plan to put up for sale over the weekend, Half the money raised will be donated to CHEO. “I mean we have four kids, we do use CHEO once and a while, we've been fortunate to not have to use them a lot,” says Lussier. The family has amassed the collection over the past 15 years. Comics becoming a big part of their lives, used to teach their children about business and the difference between right and wrong. “I like all the action, the adventure and the suspense. So it's exciting when you read them and fun when the good guys win,” says 12-year-old Alexandre Lussier. Alexandre knows first-hand about the great care at CHEO having once broken his arm. Most of the comics date back to the 1980s, stemming from both the Marvel and DC brands. The comics are selling at a discount stating at $1.50 an issue. The Lussier will be holding their comic sale from their home at 32 Mountain Ash Dr. in Barrhaven on June 7 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. This super family sharing a valuable lesson: With a great comic book collection, comes great responsibility. “You don't need super powers to be a superhero.
