A 35-year-old man is dead after cliff jumping into water at a campground in southern Alberta’s Foothills County, RCMP say. Okotoks Mounties were called to reports of a missing swimmer near Nature’s Hideaway Campground just after noon on Saturday. Witnesses said the man, who was a resident of Mexico, jumped into the water from a cliff and didn’t resurface. Local emergency crews and a Calgary Police HAWCS helicopter were able to find the man’s body in the water. His body was taken to the office of the chief medical examiner. Mounties said there would be no further updates and was “strongly urging” campgoers to avoid cliff jumping due to the risk of underwater rocks and strong currents that may not be visible from the surface. Nature’s Hideaway Campground is in the Foothills County hamlet of De Winton, approximately 30 kilometres south of Calgary.
