Crews are on scene responding to a train derailment in Regina’s rail yard. According to CPKC, it happened just before 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. An intermodal train was moving through the rail yard when it derailed multiple intermodal cars that were carrying shipping containers. “The derailed intermodal cars made contact with an empty potash train parked on an adjacent track. Two locomotives and approximately 13 rail cars were involved,” read a statement from CPKC to CTV News. No injuries were reported and CPKC says there is no risk to public safety. Crews were still on scene working on cleanup as of roughly 5 p.m. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
