Two teens charged with attempted murder of 12-year-old boy in Côte-des-Neiges

Montreal police arrested two teens in connection with the attempted murder of a 12-year-old boy in November.

A 17-year-old, who cannot be identified since he is a minor, and Rayan Zackary Rahmani, 19, were arrested on Wednesday, the SPVM said in a news release.

Rahmani appeared in the Montreal courthouse on attempted murder and aggravated assault charges, while the minor appeared in youth court.

Both suspects remain in custody.

The charges stem from a Nov. 18 report when officers saw a boy at around 6:30 p.m. approaching them and collapsing near the intersection of Barclay and Victoria avenues in Côte-des-Neiges.

“The officers noticed that he had been stabbed and quickly intervened to stabilize the bleeding,” the SPVM said. “He was rushed to hospital.”

Though the injuries were severe, his condition stabilized.

“I would like to highlight the exemplary work of our police officers involved in this operation,” said SPVM commander Sylvain Dumouchel.
