Town calling on artists for public art project

The town is looking for uplifting, colourful artwork to inspire those performing on the stage.

A Simcoe County community is combining public art and live music to freshen up an outdoor space for the summer.

The Town of Collingwood is putting together a mural installation at Sunset Point Park and is calling on artists to submit their work.

To enhance live performances and community events, the Town is looking for artwork that uses a vibrant colour palette and is bold and uplifting, in order to capture the attention of visitors and passersby at the park.

Artists are asked to submit up to five, high resolution JPEG images of their original artwork.

A panel of people on a Community Selection Committee will make the decision based on artistic merit, relationship to the site and originality.

Selected pieces will be printed and become a part of the four-panel mural backdrop of the Sunset Point Park Stage.

Artists who are chosen will get compensation of $750.

The deadline to submit is Fri., July 10 at 4 p.m.
