No service on GO Train Barrie line this weekend, buses running

GO buses will be running along the Barrie Line from the start of service hours on Sat. May 2 to the end of service hours on Sun. May 3.

Rail service will be temporarily suspended as “critical track work” is underway, according to a statement from Metrolinx.

The corporation said the 100-kilometre transit line will be shut down to carry out track upgrades at Aurora GO and Caledonia GO station.

Metrolinx added there will be no GO Transit service to or from Downsview Park station over the weekend and is urging customers to take TTC instead.

For riders wanting to get to Toronto, GO replacement buses will be running from Barrie Transit Terminal to Rutherford GO, where another bus can take riders to Hwy 407 Bus Terminal. From there, commuters can connect to TTC Line 1 to get to Union Station.

GO Train service will resume on the Barrie Line on Monday, however, from May 4 to 10, riders can expect fluctuation in arrival or departure times of trains, due to what the corporation calls “residual construction.”
