Two people have been arrested in connection with a downtown Winnipeg shooting that took place nearly four months ago. The initial incident occurred on March 8 in the 200 block of Portage Avenue. According to police, two women and one man were inside a parked vehicle when two men approached and, without warning, fired multiple gunshots into the car. No one was directly hit by gunfire, but one person sustained minor injuries from shattered glass. Around 3:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was called to the scene where they found 9mm shell casings and evidence of gunfire. The major crimes unit took over the investigation and identified two suspects. The investigation continued on June 23 when officers searched a home in the 200 block of Johnson Avenue. One man was taken into custody during the search, while another was arrested shortly after in the 1600 block of Regent Avenue West. The suspects are both facing several charges, including assault with a weapon and discharging a restricted firearm or prohibited firearm with intent.
