Ontario Forest Fires reports two new wildland fires in the northeast

• Chapleau 8 measured 0.1 of a hectare, 27 kilometres south of Chapleau, east of the Sheppard and Morse road and has been declared out.
• Wawa 8 measures 8 hectares and is located east of Hillsport and south of White Otter Lake. It is not under control at this time.

The largest of the existing fires is Cochrane 22, which measures 350 hectares and is located north of Cochrane 21, also approximately 10 kilometres west of the Shagamu River in the Far North. The fire is being observed.

Cochrane 21 is 10 hectares and is located 10 kilometres west of the Shagamu River in the Far North. The fire is being observed.

Cochrane 23 is located 16 kilometres west of Beavertrap Creek in the Far North. The fire measures 79 hectares and is being observed.

Cochrane 24 measures 15 hectares and is located 21 kilometres southwest of the Fort Severn Airport, south of the Severn River. The fire is being observed.

Cochrane 25 is 39 hectares and is located approximately 36 kilometres southwest of the Fort Severn Airport. The fire is not under control.

Of the 21 active wildland fires in the region, two are not under control, one is being held, one is under control and 17 are being observed.
