N.S. RCMP pulls man over for speeding, arrests him for impaired driving

A 26-year-old man from Mahone Bay, N.S., was arrested for impaired driving on Saturday, according to an RCMP news release from Thursday.

An officer patrolling Highway 103 near Upper Tantallon around 9:30 a.m. reportedly observed a vehicle “driving at speeds that appeared to be significantly over the posted limit of 110km/h.”

Police used radar to confirm the Subaru Crosstrek was going roughly 149 km/h.

The officer pulled the vehicle over and suspected the driver had been drinking. The driver provided a roadside breath sample, which police say resulted in a failure.

According to RCMP, he was arrested and transported to the Tantallon RCMP detachment, “where he provided additional breath samples registering 110mg% and 100mg%.”

The man faces charges of impaired driving and was released pending a future court appearance. He was also given a summary offence ticket for an expired driver’s licence and having open alcohol in the vehicle.
