Man arrested at Dartmouth campground for allegedly possessing child pornography

A 46-year-old man was arrested at a campground in Dartmouth, N.S., Sunday morning for allegedly breaching his probation and possessing child pornography.

Halifax Regional Police says Kevin Richard Barker was found to be in breach of his probation order to not be in public parks where people under the age of 16 could be present.

The order stemmed from a previous conviction in Calgary where Barker was charged with possession of child pornography.

Officers seized Barker’s vehicle and electronic devices during his arrest at the Shubie Park Campground where he had reportedly been living.

Police say the search led them to charge Barker with possession of child pornography.

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Friday.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
