Ferry delays hit Tsawwassen–Nanaimo route after mechanical issue

BC Ferries says if you have a reservation on an upcoming sailing today, please arrive during the check-in window noted in your booking confirmation email to maintain your reserved status.

Travellers on the Tsawwassen–Duke Point ferry route are facing continued delays Tuesday after a vessel steering issue disrupted early-morning service.

BC Ferries says the steering transfer control problem has now been repaired, but the 7:45 a.m. sailing from Tsawwassen departed more than two hours late, creating a ripple effect across the schedule.

As a result, the 10:15 a.m. sailing from Tsawwassen, the 12:45 p.m. sailing from Duke Point, and the 3:15 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen are all expected to be delayed.

The company says it will continue to monitor conditions and update schedules throughout the day as operations normalize.

Passengers with reservations are being advised to arrive within their assigned check-in window to maintain their booking status. BC Ferries says this allows reserved vehicles to be staged ahead of standby traffic and later sailings.
