Timmins Ward 5 Coun. Steve Black wants city staff to look into whether people can be fined for allowing their farm animals to trespass. Meeting on Tuesday evening, Black has introduced a motion to have staff research whether an existing bylaw is in place when it comes to wandering cows and other farm animals. ‘Frequent complaints’ “Frequent complaints are (being) received about large farm animals not being contained to the property of their owner and doing damage to adjacent properties,” his motion reads. If there is an existing bylaw, he also wants to explore whether increasing fines would act as a deterrent. “The report should also include a comparison of what other communities are doing in relation to farm animals trespassing on neighbouring properties,” Black’s motion said.
