A former British Columbia high school teacher who sent a sexually suggestive video to a student and was later convicted of child luring has agreed not to teach for 15 years, according to a consent resolution agreement released by the province’s teacher regulator. The agreement involving Vancouver Island teacher Kelsey MacRae Blake was signed on May 5, more than two years after the school district reported her misconduct to the commissioner for teacher regulation. According to the agreement, Blake sent a sexually suggestive video to a student at her school and was later charged with four counts of sexual offences pertaining to a minor. She was placed on administrative leave on Jan. 5, 2023, and formally suspended by the school district eight days later. Blake was convicted on April 23, 2025, of one charge of telecommunication to lure a child under 18 years old, according to a summary of the agreement published Tuesday. The B.C. Prosecution Service confirms Blake pleaded guilty to the charge in a Port Hardy courtroom, while the other three charges were stayed. She was sentenced last July to three years of probation and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of $200 and provide a DNA sample, according to the prosecution service. The school district terminated Blake’s employment in October 2025, two months after she was sentenced by the court. The agreement says Blake’s teaching certificate was cancelled in November 2023 for non-payment of the annual practice fee. Blake has agreed not to apply for a certificate or any other authorization to teach kindergarten-to-Grade 12 students in the province for 15 years. “Blake engaged in criminal misconduct that undermines public trust in the teaching profession,” the commissioner found, according to the summary of the agreement, which went on to say the teacher “used her privileged position of power and trust to exploit a minor for sexual advantage.”
