A 19-year-old man has died in hospital after being struck by a falling tree during a storm in Muskoka Monday night.

Paramedics told CTV News they were called to Clearwater Lake Road in Port Syndey around 9 p.m. on Victoria Day.

When first responders arrived to the private property, they found a teen suffering from severe to life-threatening injuries.

The young man was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

This incident unfolded as a powerful thunderstorm and wind system moved through the region, toppling trees and downing hydro lines in Huntsville and surrounding areas.
