Here is where you can see the final Canadian performance for the Snowbirds

The final season for the iconic Snowbirds aerobatic team will include a demonstration over Ottawa on Canada Day and the final performance on Canadian soil in the sky over Gatineau, Que. in mid-September.

The federal government announced on Tuesday that Canada will retire the aging CT-114 Tutor jets at the end of the current season, and the Department of Nature Defence will procure the CT-157 Siskin II for the future Snowbirds teams.

“After 55 years of air demonstration, 2026 will mark the final season for the CT-114 Tutor aircraft fleet which has served as both a trainer and air demonstration aircraft for more than six decades,” the department said.

The famed Snowbirds are scheduled to appear Sept. 18-20 at the Aero Gatineau-Ottawa at the Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport in Gatineau. It’s the final airshow for the Snowbirds on Canadian soil.

“Aero Gatineau-Ottawa is privileged to host the Snowbirds’ final public Canadian airshow performances. Though bittersweet, we will mark the occasion with a celebration befitting this iconic team,” John Bennett, director general of Aero Gatineau-Ottawa, said in a statement.

“We understand the reasons for this difficult decision and remain committed to our partnership with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and to showcasing its evolving fleet and capabilities in the years ahead.”

Aero Gatineau-Ottawa says the Snowbirds will perform on all three days of the air show.

The Snowbirds have been entertaining crowds since 1971.

Residents in Ottawa, eastern Ontario and western Quebec will have three chances to see the Snowbirds during their farewell tour.

The Snowbirds are scheduled to be in Ottawa on Canada Day. On Sept. 13, the Snowbirds will conduct a flypast/non-aerobatic display over Spencerville.

After appearing in Gatineau on Sept. 18-20, the Snowbirds are scheduled to appear Oct. 3-4 in Huntington Beach, Cali. and Oct. 10-11 in Sacramento.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, 431 Air Demonstration Squadron are based at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Sask.

Defence Minister David McGuinty would not commit to a specific date for the Snowbirds to return to the skies once the new CT-157 Siskin II arrive.
