Ontario Provincial Police say two individuals were arrested in Nova Scotia for charges relating to arson and vehicle theft in North Stormont. According to a news release from police, investigators launched an investigation into a suspicious fire that occurred at a home on Church Street in the community of Finch, Ont. shortly after midnight on July 13. OPP say investigators identified two individuals believed to be responsible for the blaze. Investigators also connected the pair to a vehicle that was stolen from County Road 43 on July 14. The stolen vehicle was located in Nova Scotia, and the two accused were arrested by the RCMP. A 44-year-old is facing multiple charges, including arson with disregard for human life, arson damaging property, mischief destroying or damaging property and motor vehicle theft. A 22-year-old has been charged with arson with disregard for human life, arson damaging property and motor vehicle theft. Police say both accused do not have a fixed addressed. The pair remain in custody. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information that may assist is asked to call the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
