Saskatchewan RCMP revealed how many drug trafficking related charges were made in the province in 2025, touting the work done by officers to keep dangerous drugs out of the communities they work in. In total, 378 people were charged with 543 drug trafficking related offences last year, RCMP said in an update Wednesday. These included the seizure of about 60 kilograms of methamphetamine, 14 kilograms of cocaine, 357 grams of fentanyl, three kilograms of other drugs, 70 pharmaceutical-style tablets and over 120 firearms. “As the provincial police service, we are using intelligence-led approaches to disrupt drug trafficking whether it’s occurring in a small remote town, or a bigger city,” Sgt. Éric Desfossés, north region manager of RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT) said. Plain clothes and uniformed officers conducted covert surveillance and high-visibility enforcement to target the individuals who bring the illegal drugs into communities. “Illegal drugs pose a serious threat to the wellbeing of communities. Targeting the individuals responsible for trafficking them is our ultimate goal,” Desfossés said. “Combining frontline policing with specialized enforcement is a coordinated effort that disrupts drug trafficking networks and protects vulnerable populations.” The release referred to a case from Dec. 31 when Pelican Narrows RCMP executed a search warrant and seized over a kilogram of meth from a residence, preventing thousands of doses from circulating in the community. RCMP traffic services also patrol roads, which disrupts the transport of illegal goods. RCMP referred to a case in October where a roving traffic unit officer stopped a vehicle near Kindersley. A police dog named Salt helped find 19 kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle.
