Sun rises before 7 a.m. as cold temperatures continue to grip Ottawa

The sun came up before 7 a.m. today as the days continue to get longer this spring.

Sunrise was at 6:59 a.m., and will continue to rise earlier and earlier. The sun will rise at 6:44 a.m. on March 31 and at 6 a.m. on April 25.

According to timeanddate.com, the next time the sun will rise after 7 a.m. is Oct. 1, with a sunrise at 7:01 a.m.

While the sun continues to rise earlier, the warmer spring temperatures have yet to arrive in Ottawa. Environment Canada’s forecast only calls for one day with temperatures above seasonal over the next week.

Ottawa will see increasing cloudiness through the day with a 30 per cent chance of flurries this afternoon. High 2 C.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. Low -7 C.

Cloudy conditions continue to hang around on Wednesday with a 30 per cent chance of flurries or showers. High 2 C.

Thursday will be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of snow or rain. High 7 C.

The outlook for Friday calls for sunshine. High -4 C.

Saturday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of flurries. High 0 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 5 C and a low of -4 C.
