2 facing charges following seizure of drugs, weapon, cash from home in Little Italy: Ottawa police

Two people are facing charges following an investigation into drug trafficking that ended in an execution of a search warrant at a home in Little Italy Wednesday, according to the Ottawa Police Service.

Police say the investigation took place in March and April when members of the Central Neighbourhood Resource Team (NRT) received information about individuals allegedly trafficking illicit drugs in the capital.

Officers add the search warrant was executed at a home in the 200 block of Rochester Street with the assistance of the Drug Unit, Tactical Team and Frontline Patrol.

A loaded shotgun, a large sum of cash and a significant quantity of drugs, including crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and crack cocaine were seized during the search warrant, police say.

A 51-year-old and 30-year-old, both of Ottawa, have been jointly charged with multiple drug offences, several firearms charges, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of proceeds of crime.

They were scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
