Two Barrie men allegedly point handguns at two other men

Barrie police had a busy weekend with two arrests involving four men and two handguns, according to authorities.

Officers say they got a report of what police call a violent disturbance in the Kozlov Street parking lot at around 7:50 Sunday night.

Within minutes, police say officers found the vehicle of the suspect in question exiting the parking lot and heading onto Bayfield Street.

Authorities say the situation resulted in officers doing a takedown.

“Police conducted a high-risk stop of the vehicle and detained the four occupants,” Barrie police say.

One of the four men matched the suspect’s description, while the other three in the vehicle were released, according to police.

While officers were at an unrelated incident later that night at roughly 9:30 p.m., they say they happened upon someone who matched the second suspect’s description and took him into custody.

Police say they did a search of the area and could not find any firearms.

When investigators spoke with witnesses, they gathered evidence and video footage that allegedly showed two men with handguns pointed at two other men.

Police charged two 21-year-old Barrie men with weapons-related charges, including pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm and failure to comply with a probation order.

As the investigation is still ongoing, police are looking to identify and speak with the two men who had the handguns pointed towards.
