Sudbury — The Household Hazardous Waste Depot in Greater Sudbury will open Saturday morning after being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The depot will operate from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and will reopen for the same hours on May 30; June 13; July 11; Aug. 8; Sept. 5, 12, 19, 26; Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; Nov. 14; and, Dec. 12.

"In order to maintain physical distancing, residents will be asked to remain in their vehicles as the site attendants remove the hazardous waste from their vehicles," the city said in a news release Thursday.

"Please ensure that all hazardous waste is delivered in sealed and labelled containers."

Greater Sudbury has an app, Waste Wise, residents can download and use to find out the depot's hours of operation. The app can also be used to receive pickup day reminders, schedule large furniture, appliance or electronic item pickups, order a blue box or green cart and search the 'what-goes-where' database.

The app is available on the Google Play or App Store by searching for 'Greater Sudbury Waste Wise.'

The Recycling Centre front counter remains closed to the public, the release said.
