Flood devastation continues throughout much of Muskoka

The sun could be slightly deceiving.

While the region is getting a brief reprieve with a few days of sunny and dry conditions, we’re not out of the water yet.

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) still has much of Muskoka blanketed by flood warnings.

The areas of the Severn and Black Rivers around Washago, as well as Sparrow Lake and Lake St. John are affected as well, according to the MNR.

The Ministry says water levels are still high with the combination of snowmelt and recent rainfall. It warns residents to be aware of changing conditions and fast-moving rivers and streams.

The MNR warns people to keep their children and pets away from shorelines.

Those in lower-lying areas are the most flood-prone and the Ministry says the public needs to take precautions to protect their homes and businesses.

The flood warning alert means flooding is imminent or occurring within specific watercourses and municipalities.

The Ministry says flood warnings will remain in effect through the end of the month.
