Gold bar-winning scratch ticket almost thrown out by Quebec winner

For those confused about whether the scratchie you have will pay out, a recent winner proved the wisdom of checking twice, throwing out later.

Stéphanie Adam bought a La course aux lingots (race for the gold bar) scratch ticket in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade, Que., and had no idea the “number 14” was a winning number, according to Loto-Quebec.

Before tossing, however, she checked the ticket on Loto-Quebec’s app and saw a message that “caught her eye.” When she studied the ticket, she realized that she won a gold bar.

“I almost threw the ticket out! Good thing I scratched the little symbols,” she shared.

Adam opted for the $150,000 instead of an actual gold bar.
