Crash involving snowplow, pedestrian sends 28-year-old victim to hospital

A 28-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a snowplow on Highway 11 in North Bay on Saturday, closing the highway for eight hours.

A 28-year-old was seriously injured in a collision with a snowplow Saturday around 6 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Monday.

Highway 11 was closed near Cedar Heights starting shortly after 10 p.m. to facilitate a police investigation.

“OPP is conducting an on-scene investigation following a collision involving a snowplow and a pedestrian,” OPP said in a social media post.

“One individual was taken to hospital with life-altering injuries.”

Police said Monday that a 28-year-old received “life-threatening injuries after being struck by a snowplow and was transported to hospital by ambulance.”

The highway has reopened to traffic, with police saying the scene was cleared shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

“Highway 11 in North Bay has fully reopened near Cedar Heights Road,” OPP said on social media.

Provincial police thanked the public for their patience during the roadway closure.

OPP have not released any further details about the identity of the driver or victim, the cause of the crash or if any charges are pending.
