Ben Wilmott and Parker Von Richter are the two latest Barrie Colt players to have their names called to the NHL. Willmott was selected in the third round 92nd overall by the Vegas Golden Knights at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. Von Richter didn’t have to wait much longer being selected in the fourth round 111th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Both players had key roles this past season for the Colts deep playoff run that ended after being swept in the OHL Final by the Kitchener Rangers. Willmott split last season with the London Knights and the Colts skating in 29 games for Barrie, scoring 15 goals and 17 assists. In the playoffs he played in 20 games scoring 11 goals and 11 assists. Willmott will not return to the team next season as he has committed to Ohio State for the 2026-2027 season. Von Richter spent four seasons with the Steelheads before joining the Colts halfway through last season. The defenceman skated in 28 games for the colts scoring eight goals and adding 16 assists. He added 14 points in 21 playoff games.
