OPP have laid charges following reports of poor driving in Tay Township. According to police, multiple calls were received on Saturday June 20 around 11 in the morning about a vehicle leaving the roadway and hitting a sign. Officers arrived on scene shortly after and identified the driver who was showing signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to Georgian Bay OPP headquarters where after further testing, it was determined the driver was impaired. A 61-year-old man from Tay Township was charged with operation while impaired, and operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and released with a future court date.
